We Turn Into Poetry

Image
Beautifully crafted  Moulded in likeness  Purposely led Through the vastness  Weaving life's thread Through lives touched Connected and disconnected  To return contented  From whence came We turn into poetry.  @Sue.Ketter

Ladders in The Sky

Image
If the sky is the limit Then let me build  My castles in the sky To be a dreamer, dreaming  Dreaming  Painting with words Reaching up, rising  Touching lives  Pouring out from fantastical views Occasionally informed by reality   @Sue.Ketter

Between the Lines

Image
Gentleness does not equate weakness  As absence of violence does not equate gentleness. In her gentle presence  With quiet a smile  She's the picture of peace For to be benign  One must first inflame. Her gaze, it scotches  She's born of ferity She's been a phoenix  For to give light  One must first burn. In her still ways  She carries humility  She's every bit idyllic  For to be gentle  One must first burn.   @Sue.Ketter

Dear Gentle Reader

Dear gentle reader  Here I go again  Writing about dreams  If you ask me about my dream  I would not know what to tell you  As Carl Jung said "If a path before you is very clear, you're probably following on someone else's" I have yet to marry my dream to my purpose. What is my dream? All i know is, I am writing  As I have always written  Words flowing, cascading through the pages To make sense of the world within and without me To unravel the chaos To let in the light wherein I would otherwise drown. My words, what weight do they carry? I have a hope though  That they would enlighten, inspire As my quest to fathom this journey called life  For I too have been lost I am bereft of judgement  Where my dreams take me My purpose will meet me there.  @Sue.Ketter

Somewhere Between Then and Now

Have you thought of roads not taken  The choices you made  Where did they lead? The people who passed by you  The lessons you learnt Where did they go? The waves of change  Where they gentle,  Forming overtime?  As water flows to form a river Where they rough,  All consuming? As a raging as a storm  Now here, looking back  The unbecoming that led to becoming  Can you say, oh! that's why? Learnt patience, in the waiting  Learnt holding on, in the storm  The reason for being  Was in the growing  Strength in the knowing  Peace in the healing  Somewhere between then and now   @Sue.Ketter

A King Without A Crown

A crown without a king Sits above the throne, For its owner to adorn it  He must be acknowledged  @Sue.Ketter

The Chronicles of Izel

Image
Ask me tomorrow  How yesterday became today  I'll tell you a tale about the dream maker from the world of Izel, who bestowed the gift of dreams to his people. From the dreams came, leaders, healers, teachers, farmers and Innovators They propelled the world forward  From land came nourishment From herbs came medicine  From earth came minerals, metals and gems alike. There was unity, harmony, benevolence  Until greed crept in, and in the name of free will some had misguided ways of reaching those dreams Their desire for more power, more wealth gave into oppression of their fellow people. From leaders came dictators From teachers came false prophets From innovators came death and destruction  What was once for good, was now maligned. So the dream maker sought to right the balance He chose a clairvoyant of whom he granted the gift of sight, She was the voice of reason  He chose an ascendant of whom he assigned the gift of sword, he was a vangua...

Doorway Effect

Image
Crossing the threshold  Stepping into forgetfulness  Before nothing turned to something  Smug, plain, expressionless  Smile, laughter, brightness  Obstacle, tears, painfulness  Joy, effortless, boundless  The room of remembrance  Standing at the doorway  Crossing the threshold  Stepping into forgetfulness.    @Sue.Ketter

🫢🏽

All I have is gratefulness  For He gave me you, An all-encompassing,  Unconditionally unperturbed loveπŸ’‹. Through all that life throws at us,  The one who shares this ride with me, Walking forward always.       @Sue.Ketter

If Ever

Image
If ever I leave before you do Tell me, I did well Plant a tree at my resting place  Perhaps a white bottle brush  Let your tears water the seedling And when you're done  Do say farewell And Let me go My sun may have set But yours still rises In thine heart, keep the memories  Smile when you speak of me When you miss me Find me in the blooming flowers As you sit under the shade And let me go I did not leave you behind I simply was called home  This journey's end was a beginning of sorts And as my body feeds the tree My soul flies free, content I loved, I lived I've gone from this place  Let me go       @Sue.Ketter

The Extrovert Loner (Author: Chemasop Cheruiyot)

Image
They call it isolophilia, I just call it being me. An extrovert loner, free, Dancing in the space I am most at ease. My best friends are introverts, the quiet kind, Who speak with signs, murmurs soft and shy. I love how they listen as my words unfurl, Talking less, their silence reaches the sky. I chatter on, their eyes meet mine, A nod, a smile, a whispered sigh. And when the silence comes, I know it's fine We're both okay, no need to ask why. Sometimes, I need my time, to drift away, But they don’t chase; they understand the play. Our bond runs deep, no words required, A friendship quiet, yet so inspired. There’s Sue, the introvert, pure and true, And Judycos, a balance of both hues. In their company, I find sweet peace, In stillness, I reflect, I find release. For in these quiet hours, I meet my Maker, I find myself, no longer a faker. I strengthen what’s weak, adjust my view, Grateful for moments that feel so true. So when I slip into solitude, don't pester ...

Moonflower

Image
On the day's end When the horizon meets the sun I watch as the day gives way to the night I indulge in the twilight In awe of the Creator And in my reverence of Him I hold a vesper of Thanksgiving For when I seek my world All I find is His Grace On my Knees, I stand Blessed, I am His child By His Grace, I am covered I think myself a moonflower Blooming at eventide  Was His Favour for me.   @Sue.Ketter

The Soldier Within (Author: Chemasop Cheruiyot)

Image
I walk like a soldier, steadfast, bold, With a heart full of truth, and a soul that's untold. You may see me harsh, but look past the mask, It’s not anger you see—it’s the weight of the task. My words are few, yet carry weight, Like a commander's voice, firm and straight. I guard my trust, as the scriptures say, From Micah’s wisdom, I will not stray. Approach me kindly, with honest intent, For how you come speaks more than what's meant. Lies stab like needles, hypocrisy burns, Pretenders—oh, how my spirit turns. I live with purpose, grounded and true, Yet many misread what I hold in view. Not temper, nor rage, but discipline’s face, Guided by God and His infinite grace. As soldiers trust, so too do I, Not in men, but the One on high. Lord, make me one, if it pleases You, Let me lead with valor, in all I pursue. I pray for a place where values align, Where truth isn’t weakness but a strength divine. May my heart never wander, nor my feet lose their way, Keep me f...

Heraeth

Image
She walks with a skip in her step  There's a joyful demeanour to her spring Lost in thought, she seems gleeful. She's elacric for the days ahead  But in her eyes, there's hidden longing  Bursting to get through the smile. It shows on her face from time to time  She stares off wistfully for a moment  Then pulls back her smile just as quickly.   @Sue.Ketter

Echoes

Image
To have a dream in a world with no hope Is what she feared the most And yet she dreamt  Of the day they'd be reunited To see in his eyes a reflection of her To breathe again. She's lived long enough She's forgotten to feel alive What they've taken from her She's lingering in between  Longing and despair  He was hidden in memories past. The moment came The universe did not comply She saw in his eyes a determination  To make her world hopeful  They took from her  As they had taken from him. He carries the hope for her Though fleeting  She smiles  Her heart remembers  There's familiarity  She's hidden in memories past. @Sue.Ketter

Mind-reader

Image
I can assure you,  I'm not off with the pixies For the most part I am sane  A daydreamer I am though. Should I welcome you inside my mind To begin you must remember You may encounter the darkness  She lurks ever so close Etching at the surface. Walk through the maze that is my thoughts I dare you  Even I, get lost in there Be wary of her ladyship  Her defenses are high She's been holding herself back. As you move forward You will encounter the light Give her a smile and a hug She was a long time coming She's the embodiment of strength. When you reach the centre  And you find memories living there Be gentle with her She carries the narrative  She maybe just a tad off. On your way out when you meet Ms imagination Do not linger long, She may keep you yet She has made herself The empress to the castles in the sky. And as you exit What you have learnt  Leave them there. Tell me, that journey  Your perception of me, did it change? ...

The Sound of Silence

Image
There's a resounding echo Wherein I sit Voices discerning Whispers refining Leaves a telling. If you listen closely Here in quiet  You're cultivating Awareness forming Coming to understanding. If we take heed  There within it We find meaning Suddenly a knowing Over us washing.    @Sue.Ketter

Do You Ever Mean The Things You say

Image
I hear the words coming from you And I can hardly believe  There seems a disconnect To the actions that follow I try to read between the lines Incase I missed it What you say  What you mean  Do you ever mean the things you say?    @Sue.Ketter

She Arrived by Elephant 🐘

Image
Someday past Lived a girl  Quiet had been her descriptive Say more Talk more How boring your company must be. Oh, but hey While they were looking  At her supposed flaw She was blooming Ever so slow. If her quiet caused them discomfort She was deeply, deeply unbothered; possibly See her journey, though still ongoing Has her unfurled, Growing For she was made for reticence.     @Sue.Ketter

Uphold

Image
She stood at the shore  Let the sea swallow her tears With each wave  She let go of the memories  The life she left behind  The love she gained  To say goodbye  As she lived  A quiet resolve.     @Sue.Ketter

Life

Image
There's a sea of galaxies in her eyes She has travelled across the universe collecting droplets of moments; past, present, future Channeling through time and space Leaving behind memories; shimmering in the light, dancing behind shadows  @Sue.Ketter

Tell Me what Makes You Sad

Image
Tell me what makes you sad,  I will listen  Here in the stillness,  I will encompass your storm We can freefall together  (Whoever we become will catch us) And at the end,  When all's been said  I hope to have watered your garden  @Sue.Ketter

Beware the Calm

Image
Do not anger the watchers They hold storms within them With graceful smiles Hiding distractions overflowing  Built over time, tensions taking spaces Filling voids covered with calm indifference Pray to not be caught In the waves of their tsunami.      @Sue.Ketter

The World Outside

Image
The world outside holds all of my hopes and fears So I've opened the door to let them in Though scary it may seem I have stepped into the plain. The world outside holds all of my hopes and fears So i've opened the door to welcome the unknown To leave my zone of comfort I have ventured onto the road well travelled. The world outside holds all of my hopes and fears So i've opened the door to let them in To follow the dream I have carried the tempest with me.       @Sue.Ketter

I Have A Mighty Need

Image
I have a mighty need To escape from my mind From the chaos therein. So I write To discern from the jumbled words And tangled thoughts  To paint expressions from my imagination Across the canvas made of hope With my tools A  choice of colored pens and a notepad To convey a dream I know not how to denote.     @Sue.Ketter

Come Find Me in My Solitude

Image
I am the girl sitting in the corner  Calmly watching, observing I was made for solitude  For I am fluent in silence.     @Sue.Ketter

I Want to Write about Love

Image
I pick up my quill,  I think,  Today I'll write about love. Can't quite seem to jot down those words Those soul-touching expressions 😍  That makes you want to let go  Fall into timeless adulation.  I read romantic poetry,  I want to be inspired πŸ˜€  By their rhythms, and rhymes, and honeyed words Those seem to float away when I  assemble myself to write. Should I compare the clouds,  How some  dissipate into nothingness   Or will they form into a storm? Heavy and all-consuming. Or should it be stars 🌟,   Shimmering in the sky Far away yet not alone Watching apart but yet together. What about the moonπŸŒ™,  Only showing itself  at night Waiting patiently for its turn Trusting that its time will come.  How about the flowers ,  With the cherished meanings they hold Did you get a rose 🌹 , or was it a tulip🌷?  What color was it?  Don't you just dread the black. I think I'll...

New Beginnings

Image
It is true, faith can move mountains But hear me out Some mountains you are trying to move You were meant to climb πŸͺœ.  So while I pray πŸ™ for the mountains to move  I will take my talents and gifts And climb with them, dancing along the way   Faith will be my harness πŸ’ͺ . Moving slowly is still motion  I'll pick a wildflower, drink from the stream  The destination will be there when I arrive Better late than never, right?  @Sue.Ketter

Musings

Image
You speak like I write ✍️  That I admire. To write like I speak πŸ—£  Would be a sight.  Jumbled words and inarticulate rhyme  Stammered upon unfiltered nerves. But to write as I think Now that would be bedlam.     @Sue.Ketter

The Place I Will Meet My Dream

Image
I admit, though reluctantly  That My writings seem clumsy I'm just but a beginner Taking chances, s cribbling away Lost in thoughts of what to write next. Obsessing over grammar and writing tools I have made the dictionary my friend, kind of Still learning within the confines of my comfort zone Putting my pen to paper while the world sleeps, well some. Occasionally, I churn out a great piece Fighting with self-deprecating criticism Toeing the line between happiness and sadness To not be misunderstood, would make my world go around. I write about you sometimes Sometimes, about no one at all A muse, do I have one? Hmmmm! Myself, maybe, Is that selfish? I do write for me, so... In my imagination,  I'm a sword-wielding empress I have conquered the world of fear I have cast aside self-doubt I have won the battle of bravery with grace I am dancing with my pen  In my castle made of paper. Though scared I'll fall on my face I stand here Letting the river of words flow...

As I sit Here

Image
As I sit here  In contemplation  I wonder  Do you hear me? Hands clasped together Eyes closed  I spiral Do you see me? Mind-expanding, unfolding Thoughts linger  I reminisce Am I sad? Head bowed down Face hidden I falter Am I afraid? Voice rings loud Standing up I project Am I angry? Arms wide open looking forward I embrace Am I free? Sound that reverberates Gut feeling I listen  Am I hopeful?     @Sue.Ketter

Wistful; An Ode to a Friend departed

Image
Some days, I miss you in waves Some days, I hear your voice sounding my name some days, I hear a song you would have loved  And I miss you, it's drowning. No one said it would be this hard. Today I am listless, listless, listless I want to know what heaven looks like How did you always know to call me when I needed it? Though your time here was short  I hope you see  How beautifully blooming we are, from whence you left us For you'll always be a part of who we are. Though gone you are from us I know You are home Thank you for your part in our journey Till we meet again.     @Sue.Ketter

So Let Them Deem Me Mad. (Authored: Chemasop Cheruiyot)

Image
I n whispers soft, your voice alights, Guiding steps through darkest nights. Though eyes strain in search of thee, In unseen realms, your presence be. To heed your call, a sacred vow, Though others question, wonder how. In their eyes, I'm deemed insane, Yet in your grace, I find my refrain. For in the dance of cosmic light, Your ways, a mystic, wondrous sight. As Ecclesiastes so aptly portrays, In your sovereignty, my heart sways. In courts divine, I choose to dwell, Where your mysteries sweetly swell. In the realm of flesh, I find no worth, But in your love, I find rebirth. So let them deem me mad, it's true, For crazed I am, for love of you. In your presence, I am whole, For you, oh God, are my very soul.     Winnie Cheruiyot

The Girl Who Fell to Earth

Image
To understand how she got here  We must go back to the beginning To the girl who lived to make others happy To the girl who sank to hold them up  To the girl who loved  And lost herself to the ramblings of whom they told her to be. She'd forgotten about her dreams for too long So she thought to dream new dreams To transform from the entropy of her making    To leap into reckless abandon i nformed by fearless passion To catch up with the dream she believed was running from her. So she let go of all the words stuck in her throat And let them cascade over the blank pages In an intricately woven flow of locution To pick herself up in these moments To rediscover her place  To find herself in the abyss of the cosmos.      @Sue.Ketter

Etheloproxenos (Kinship)

Image
Today was a meeting of minds and kinship alike, We are bonded by fate, Our destinies aligned by the Heavens. We are comprised of strength and light,  And a little bit of wisdom, Our souls ring true, the sound of laughter lives here. We are but specs of dust, Blown together by wind.     @Sue.Ketter

Where I'm going

Image
Only I can decide who I am So I took a step forward Leaving the place that hugged me I decided, what I want to do, I will do now No more waiting for later, later made me complacent Leaping into the unknown, moving ahead to go back in time To be who I was meant to be. The universe will catch me, I hope My heart's pounding, I want to say a mile a minute but I'm over clichΓ©s There's a little T-rex in all of us apparently So I will roar through these pages To find my place in the vastness of space. Got lost for a while there, fitting in was not for me  Neither was standing out, yet not invisible either Like an elephant in the Arctic Who knows, maybe this elephant can survive the Arctic. I am born of love and loss and everything in between I have traveled far to come full circle I am become a revenant This purpose I seek, my soul embrace thee.     @Sue.Ketter

Running

Image
For the most part  She was always moving  In never-ending loops.  She longed for a resting place,  But still, she kept moving.  Never did she notice  She had it all along    In the smile that reached her eyes,  The warmness of her voice,  The stillness of her gaze.   when she finally stops I hope she knows  She was always the resting place.     @Sue.Ketter

Late Nights

Image
Night is my friend Words flow freely here. In the quiet silence Thoughts consume me. Have you seen me lately? I have been who I was. Did you notice, Or did it escape you? In the simple complexities of life I changed to remain the same, I know, baffles me too. Me, here, now I have not lost you yet, I am still and always me Have you seen me lately? I have been who I was, I am who I've been.     @Sue.Ketter

Rumblings

Image
It takes time for me to act on ideas But when I finally do, I soar, maybe I have never hoped to be on any acme Nor did I dream of breaking any glass ceiling . I know my purpose And I resolve to live it These mountains I've climbed Gave me the strength I didn't think I had. So here I am Bearing myself in a place that makes me uncomfortable But hey, be uncomfortable with me No regrets is what I aim for And when my time comes, I'll say I lived.     @Sue.Ketter

Where Stories Live

Some days she climbs mountains  Like they're hills, Fiercely moving forward toward the dream Always praying, Always hoping, Forever grateful. Greatness flows within her soul, The heart of a champion that she has Surpassing that glass ceiling Always praying, Always hoping,  Forever grateful.   @Sue.Ketter

An Ode to us: The Night Shift

Image
So the sun sets  And a new day begins  The mood is sombre  Imbued with anticipation  Rain drops fall Like Eskimos we look  We've made night our friend  Ain't no monsters we pray  The sun rises  Signalling the end of day  We welcome the slumber  Nighty night we go.      @Sue.Ketter

To the wind

Some journeys  Were meant to be taken  Through winding paths  Deep within forests  Surrounded. Some journeys  Were meant to be taken  Through dusty roads In deserted towns  Alone.    @Sue.Ketter
