The Soldier Within (Author: Chemasop Cheruiyot)

I walk like a soldier, steadfast, bold,
With a heart full of truth, and a soul that's untold.
You may see me harsh, but look past the mask,
It’s not anger you see—it’s the weight of the task.

My words are few, yet carry weight,
Like a commander's voice, firm and straight.
I guard my trust, as the scriptures say,
From Micah’s wisdom, I will not stray.

Approach me kindly, with honest intent,
For how you come speaks more than what's meant.
Lies stab like needles, hypocrisy burns,
Pretenders—oh, how my spirit turns.

I live with purpose, grounded and true,
Yet many misread what I hold in view.
Not temper, nor rage, but discipline’s face,
Guided by God and His infinite grace.

As soldiers trust, so too do I,
Not in men, but the One on high.
Lord, make me one, if it pleases You,
Let me lead with valor, in all I pursue.

I pray for a place where values align,
Where truth isn’t weakness but a strength divine.
May my heart never wander, nor my feet lose their way,
Keep me from the path where the wicked stray.

For truth is my banner, in word and in deed,
God, guide my steps, in You I succeed.
Though many may judge and misunderstand,
I live as a soldier, by Your command.
