Echoes

To have a dream in a world with no hope

Is what she feared the most

And yet she dreamt 

Of the day they'd be reunited

To see in his eyes a reflection of her

To breathe again.

She's lived long enough

She's forgotten to feel alive

What they've taken from her

She's lingering in between 

Longing and despair 

He was hidden in memories past.

The moment came

The universe did not comply

She saw in his eyes a determination 

To make her world hopeful 

They took from her 

As they had taken from him.

He carries the hope for her

Though fleeting 

She smiles 

Her heart remembers 

There's familiarity 

She's hidden in memories past.
